About 40,000 cardiac arrests occur each year in Canada, a majority of which occur at work or in public places.

In Ontario alone, 7,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests occur each year. Defibrillation, when used in conjunction with CPR in the first few minutes can drastically improve cardiac survival rates by more than 50%.
