Existing Operator and Refresher Training Program
Lift Truck Operator Training consists of a 4-hour classroom practical session presented in an interactive format which covers all aspects of lift truck safety and operation. An on-site individual practical operating test will follow where unsafe or incorrect operating techniques are identified and corrected and pre-shift inspection procedures are reviewed. This program will provide the participant with the necessary knowledge to safely and correctly operate your specific class of lift truck(s) and attachment(s).
New Operator (electric and propane powered counter balance forklift)
This fully comprehensive course is for operators with little or no experience. The blended learning of theory and practical training at our Vaughan based forklift training centre will teach participants how to be competent and safe operators. The course is comprised of classroom instruction and testing along with practical training and evaluation.
Clause 25(2) (a) of the OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) places an obligation on an employer to “provide information, instruction and supervision to a worker to protect the health or safety of the worker”. Regulation 851 is more specific and states that a lifting device is only to be operated by a competent person. “Competent person” is defined by the OHSA as someone who:
a. is qualified because of his knowledge, training, and experience to organize the work and its performance,
b. is familiar with the provisions of this Act and the regulations that apply to the work, and
c. has knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the workplace.
(ii) The CSA Standard B335-04 recommends that lift truck operators receive retraining on both theory and practical every three years with a mid-term practical evaluation every 18 months.
(iii) Our program meets or exceeds the CSA Standard and the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s “Guideline for the Safe Operation and Maintenance of Powered Lift Trucks”.
This course will provide the attendee with forklift certification upon successful completion of both theoretical and practical components. Included are wallet cards for each operator and all necessary paperwork for company records.
